Resume Basics
Your resume can be an essential tool for getting a job, a scholarship or into the educational program you want. This is your chance to brag about yourself so make sure to include all the positive things you have accomplished. Make sure to be honest, accurate and concise.
Here is a list of things to include:
Education – think about highlighting special classes you have take at high school and outside, GPA if it is good, summer camps, college level courses (Tech Prep)
Travel Experiences – have you gone on any special field trips or travel experiences that could relate to your field of interest
Awards – think of any educational awards like honor roll, perfect attendance, student of the quarter (even if it was a nomination), also include an awards from contest like the Festival of the Arts
Volunteer Experiences – make sure to include your volunteer experiences, even if it was for a class. Hands-on experience is very valuable.
Work Experience – all work experience at this point should be included. Have you ever done a job shadow or internship?
Leadership – Have you ever had a leadership position like the captain of a sports team or an officer of a club, class or ASB? How about outside of school
Activities – Employers, colleges and scholarship committees want to see students that have been involved in a variety of activities both inside and outside of school. Make sure to highlight these and include the length any special aspects.
Software – list the titles and level of skill, if you are certified add this
References – ask the person first
Graphic - I expect you to include some type of graphic you created.
