McMillen Foundation Art Scholarship
It is with great excitement that we announce the first year of the McMillen Foundation (of Issaquah) Art Scholarships.  Beginning immediately, they will be accepting applications for full tuition and required supplies renewable scholarships.  These scholarships are open to any student who wishes to further their education at the university/college level, in Washington or Alaska, majoring in the area of Visual Arts.  Although need and merit will be considered, 70% of their selection criteria is based on talent and potential in the art area.  Applications can be downloaded from their website or copies are available in the Counseling Center.

This year, we will select ten college-bound high school seniors from across the nation based on each student’s innovative use of technology in academics. Show us your best work, and you could take a MacBook Pro, iPod nano, and $2000 to campus next fall. All of which will make college life a great deal easier.
 
Claffey's Community Service
Claffey’s Painting of North Bend is awarding two community service scholarships in the amounts of $500.00 to one senior boy and one senior girl.  The Corporation for National and Community Service will match Claffey’s $500.00 making each scholarship $1,000.00!  *(This is a National scholarship and they note that the matching scholarships will be made on a first-come, first-served basis).  

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  High School senior who has contributed at least 100 hours of community service within the past 12 months.  No minimum grade point average is required. 

INSTRUCTIONS:   Complete the Local Scholarship Application. This can be found online at: www.mountsihighschool.com   Select “Resources” on the top menu bar, then select “Counseling Center” and “Local Scholarship Application”.

* However, in the ESSAY SECTION of the application, please address the following:

Please write a brief essay reflecting on the meaning and significance of your service and how it has affected your life and the lives of others.

 You must also submit an outline and description of your community service.  It does not need to be in an essay format.  Letters of recommendation are not required.  

The winners of these scholarships will need to have their Community Service hours officially verified by the organization that was served.
 
Deadline:  Completed application packets need to be turned in to Lia Swanson in the Counseling Center by 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29th.

Washington State For the Love of the Game Scholarship
Mount Si high school is invited to participate in the Washington State For the Love of the Game Scholarship.

My name is Mark Wilkerson and as a Washington State athlete and member of A to Z Sports Inc, I am proud to announce this $3,500 scholarship program dedicated to supporting Washington State athletes.

This spring scholarships will be awarded to the top three video clip submissions, and the winning videos will be featured on the A to Z Sports Inc. homepage. In addition, selected high schools will receive a free lighting workshop from Glazers Camera.

All submissions must be received by June 15th, 2007, and all winners will be announced on June 30th.

Please encourage all of your Washington State students ages 14 – 19 to apply by submitting their own edited sports video content (maximum length two-minutes) at http://www.AtoZSports.biz/award/. Attached is a copy of the flier. Please feel free to forward the document or print to it for posting at your school.
